The turbulent ‘70s were a decade of musical change, and the original electric bass—the Precision Bass®—evolved with the times. From punk to funk and disco to hard rock, the ever-versatile P Bass was used to lay down the hits that created the soundtrack for cultural revolutions. The workhorse Classic ‘70s P Bass evokes the era when FM radio broadcast music that refused to be pigeonholed.

The backbone of the flexible P Bass sound is a punchy split single-coil P Bass pickup that enhances the instrument’s voice by precisely placing the polepieces for enhanced harmonic content. This highly dynamic pickup sings, growls and snaps with authentic Fender tone, filling out the low end while retaining clarity and articulation. Use the easy-to-reach volume and tone controls to channel the crisp, yet fat sound. The slim “C”-shaped neck profile provides plenty of fret-hand comfort, even during long playing sessions, while the 7.25”-radius fingerboard hosts 20 vintage-style frets for a familiar playing experience. The vintage-style 4-saddle bridge, synthetic bone nut and Gotoh® die-cast sealed tuners work together for rock-solid tuning stability whether played with a pick, fingers, or slapped, providing accurate intonation along the length of the rosewood fingerboard all the while.

Clad in durable polyester finish, this bass offers period-accurate construction such as aesthetic appointments such as an alder body, maple neck, bass-side thumb rest, four-bolt “F” stamped neck plate, three-ply black pickguard, knurled flat-top control knobs and large headstock.
